Who We Are

This policy covers quarex.org, askidono.com, election2026.net, elecciones2026.net, publicstudies.org, quarexnews.org and quarexradio.org. They are operated by Quarex Media LLC.

What We Collect

Questions you ask

When you ask a question on /ask/, Askidono, Compose, Evaluate, a library topic, or the research drawer on an election page, the text you type is sent to an AI service to produce the answer (see Services We Use). Apart from the 7-day security log described below, most questions are not kept once the answer is delivered. These are the exceptions:

• Askidono: your question and the sources found for it are saved, so we can see which topics the library is missing.
• Evaluate: the statement you submit and the evaluation are saved, and the same evaluation is shown to anyone who submits the same statement within 30 days.
• Candidate questions on election pages: questions about a candidate and their answers are saved, and the same answer is shown to anyone who asks the same question within 21 days.
• QuarexNews: when our first AI service can't answer, the question and the location you entered are noted in an error log.

None of these saved questions include your IP address, browser details or any other identifier. They are kept until we delete them; we have not yet set a schedule for that.

Security log

To stop abuse, our server logs each question sent through /ask/, library topics, Compose, Askidono's topic answers and the election-page research drawer. Each entry records the time, your IP address, your browser type, and the first 200 characters of the question. The log is deleted automatically after 7 days.

Rate limiting

To stop any one visitor from overloading the site, we count recent requests by a scrambled form of your IP address (a keyed hash that cannot be turned back into the address without a secret held only on our server). These counts are discarded after 1 to 10 minutes.

Web host logs

Like every website, our web host keeps standard access logs: IP address, page requested, browser type and time. The host's own settings decide how long they are kept. On Askidono, the question you type becomes part of the page address, so it appears in these logs too.

Email and forms

If you subscribe to our email list, we receive your email address. If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you enter. Both forms are handled by Formspree, which passes them on to us. We use your address only to write to you, and no one else gets it.

Donations

Donations are made on a page hosted by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us. We see what Stripe shows in our account, such as your email address and the amount, so we can send a receipt and keep records.

Stored in your own browser

A few pages remember things in your browser's local storage, which stays on your device and is never sent to us: your language and expertise settings, research sessions you save in Explore, your last 10 statements on the freeform Evaluate page, and the location and language you choose on QuarexNews. Clearing your browser data removes them.

What We Do Not Collect

• No accounts, logins or passwords
• No names, unless you put one in the contact form
• No advertising, and no advertising trackers
• No session recording
• No card numbers (Stripe handles payments)

Cookies

Quarex itself sets no cookies. Two services we use do:

• Google Analytics sets cookies to tell new visits from returning ones. It runs on most pages of quarex.org, askidono.com, election2026.net and elecciones2026.net, and on the QuarexNews home page. It does not run on publicstudies.org or quarexradio.org.
• Cloudflare, which protects quarex.org, may set cookies that tell people apart from automated bots.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.

Services We Use

• Google Analytics counts visits, pages viewed, approximate location and device type. We see totals, not individuals. Google's privacy policy
• Anthropic (Claude) answers most questions on the site. Anthropic's privacy policy
• Google Gemini answers QuarexNews questions first, with Claude as the backup. It receives the question and the location you enter. Gemini API terms
• Voyage AI receives the search text in Compose and Askidono, to find matching library topics. Voyage AI's privacy policy
• Cloudflare protects and speeds up quarex.org. Cloudflare's privacy policy
• Formspree handles the email sign-up and contact forms. Formspree's privacy policy
• Stripe processes donations and QuarexNews subscriptions. Stripe's privacy policy

Pages also load fonts from Google Fonts and video thumbnails from YouTube, so those requests reach Google the way any web request does. Videos on our support page load only when you click play.

How Long We Keep It

• Security log: 7 days, then deleted automatically
• Rate-limit counts: 1 to 10 minutes
• Saved questions (Askidono, Evaluate, candidate questions, QuarexNews error log): until we delete them, with nothing that identifies you
• Email addresses: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete yours
• Google Analytics: under the retention settings in our Google account

We Never Sell Your Information

We never sell your information, never use it for advertising, and share it only with the services listed above, for the purposes listed above.

Children

Quarex is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your Rights

If you live in California, you can ask us what information we hold about you and ask us to delete it. Write to [email protected]. We can find and delete an email address you gave us. Saved questions carry no identifier, so we usually can't tell which ones are yours, but if you tell us the exact wording we will look.

Changes to This Policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and the "Last Updated" date at the top.
