Leaner & Smarter — April 22, 2026
Hi everyone,
Quick update on some changes I've made to the Quarex platform this week.
We were spending roughly $20/day — about $600/month — on API costs generating content that nobody was reading yet. No traffic on the international papers, no listeners on the Spanish broadcasts. That's not sustainable for a one-person operation, and it's not smart.
The content is great. The infrastructure is solid. But I was building for an audience that hasn't arrived yet. Sound familiar? Same lesson I shared with Paige last week — you can't force discovery. When the audience shows up, everything is ready to turn back on with a single config change.
Estimated daily costs drop from ~$20/day to ~$5/day. That's a savings of roughly $450/month while keeping everything that matters running.
Nothing has been removed — just paused. The code, the automation, the city configs — all still there, ready to scale back up when the time is right.
And as far as global news goes — you can still go to QuarexNews.org and get the news from anywhere in the world, on demand. Or you can go to the Geography library and click on any country in the world to get the news of the day for that country. For example: Azerbaijan — Current Events & Latest News. The daily papers are paused, but the live news tools are wide open.
