Hi everyone,
This week's candidate scrape is complete and live on quarex.org. Here's the first proper week-over-week diff since the scraper rebuild — the baselines are now apples-to-apples.
This week's movement: 18 states with changes —
House +32 / −45 (11 states),
Senate +2 / −17 (4 states),
Governor +26 / −28 (9 states).
Notable governor moves
- Hawaii: The Democratic field finally populated — incumbent Josh Green plus 11 challengers. Republican and Independent slates also filled out.
- Virgin Islands: 10 candidates added, including Stacey Plaskett (current U.S. House Delegate), Lt. Gov. Tregenza Roach, and former senator Donna Frett-Gregory — all D primary.
- Northern Mariana Islands: Former Gov. Ralph Torres (R) entered with running mate Benjamin Jones Jr. Former House Speaker Blas T. Attao (I) joined as well.
- Michigan: 6 new candidates across both primaries — Kevin Hogan and Marni Sawicki on the D side; Anthony Hudson, Evan Space, and Joyce Gipson on the R side.
- Colorado: 15 new candidates in the open governor race (Polis is term-limited).
Notable Senate moves
- Kentucky: Nate Morris (R) entered the race to succeed Mitch McConnell.
- Virginia: 6 new candidates filed in both primaries (Eichelberger, Reynolds, Daniels on the D side; Mina, De Paula on the R side).
- Colorado: Major cleanup — 9 candidates removed who had withdrawn or didn't make the ballot.
Notable House moves
- Washington: 11 new candidates surfaced across the state's top-two jungle primaries (WA-01 through WA-05 mostly).
- New York: 5 added, 13 removed — most of the removals are post-petition cleanup of candidates who didn't qualify for the ballot.
- Virginia: Cleanup in VA-02 and VA-08 after the primary filing deadline passed.
- Michigan-13: D. Etta Wilcoxon (G) added to the general.
